It should have been easy. I needed the money. He needed a babysitter to keep him from snorting himself to death. I was cherry-picked especially for him. Responsible. Optimistic. Warm. Innocent. The worst part is that I should have known better.

Alex Winslow. British rock star. Serial heartbreaker. Casanova with whiskey eyes. “Don’t get near the devil in a leather jacket. He’ll chew you up and spit you out.” Guess what? I didn’t listen. I signed the contract. World tour. Three months. Four Continents. One hundred shows.

My name is Indigo Bellamy, and I sold my soul to a tattooed god. Problem was, my soul wasn’t enough for Alex Winslow. He ended up taking my body, too.

Then he took my heart.
Then he took my all.

My thoughts…

Midnight Blue is the story of Alex and Indigo. Alex is an alcohol and cocaine addict who was forced into rehab by his record label. With an upcoming tour, the label is on the verge on losing millions of dollars if Alex can’t perform. After rehab, he was assigned a 'babysitter', Indigo. Alex is a mess and very unhappy about his new babysitter. All the others he bullied away in tears, and he has no doubt that he can get the new girl to quit as well.

Indie’s parents were killed in a hit and run while she was in high school. Her older brother gave up college to take care of her. Her brother now has a wife and a new baby, they are barely making ends meet with what little money they have. Indie has no idea what she was getting into, but the money she would be making will help her family tremendously.

“Once upon a time, a mere mortal fell in love with a rock god. You probably know this is not a fairy tale by now. Mortals and gods don’t mix.”
― L.J. Shen, Midnight Blue
“When I look at you, I see something broken that isn’t worth fixing. And you look at me like I’m a cheap thing to replace the expensive one that’s been stolen from you. See, we’re all vases. And you’re the one scattered on the floor, shattered beyond repair. So, I’ll let someone else pick you up. It’s really that simple. Have fun with your temporary glue.”
― L.J. Shen, Midnight Blue

Indie stood by Alex and took all the crap he dished out to her. He was selfish, volatile, rude and often hurtful, she was resilient, smart-mouthed, and sassy. Indie was perfect for him and just what Alex needed, even when they went through the roughest of times. I was rooting for them from the start. Alex has a tender side that only comes out with Indie.

“In my mind, we were two asteroids orbiting around each other. I thought I was the sun and you were earth, but now I see I got it all mixed up. You were always the sun. And even now, when I look at you, I don’t see regret and pain and suffering. I see the biggest opportunity, the sweetest promise, the road I should be taking.”
― L.J. Shen, Midnight Blue

Midnight Blue isn't an easy or lighthearted story, it’s about family, loss, forgiveness, and finding your way in life. I found it to be heavy and emotional, it’s beautiful and I couldn’t stop reading. Another wonderful book by L.J. Shen and now one of my favorite romance novels.

Happy Reading!

  2. I'm a little afraid I might despise this hero but Addicted Charlotte Featherstone is one of my all-time favorites so you never know!

    1. Alex is hard to like in the beginning, but he soon tugs at your heart. I'll have to look into Addicted, I haven't read anything by Charlotte Featherstone. Have a wonderful day and thank you for visiting.
