Shadowhunters and demons square off for the final showdown in the spellbinding, seductive conclusion to the #1 New York Times bestselling Mortal Instruments series.

Darkness has descended on the Shadowhunter world. Chaos and destruction overwhelm the Nephilim as Clary, Jace, Simon, and their friends band together to fight the greatest evil they have ever faced: Clary’s own brother. Sebastian Morgenstern is on the move, systematically turning Shadowhunter against Shadowhunter. Bearing the Infernal Cup, he transforms Shadowhunters into creatures of nightmare, tearing apart families and lovers as the ranks of his Endarkened army swell. Nothing in this world can defeat Sebastian—but if they journey to the realm of demons, they just might have a chance…

Lives will be lost, love sacrificed, and the whole world will change. Who will survive the explosive sixth and final installment of the Mortal Instruments series?

My thoughts…

I can't believe I finally finished this series, after having City of Heavenly Fire sitting on my shelf for four years, I did it! Once I started reading, I was reminded why I loved this series so much. I’ve always enjoyed how Cassandra Clare created the characters and the Shadowhunter world.

City of Heavenly Fire brought out so many emotions for me. I was saddened with some of twists and turns, also I was surprised by my own reaction to some of the events. What happened with Simon, Raphael and Sebastian made my heart hurt. The ending was so happy and bittersweet at the same time, the story lined wrapped up nicely with Jace and Clary finally getting their happily ever after. This was a great conclusion to a fantastic series.

“We are all the pieces of what we remember. We hold in ourselves the hopes and fears of those who love us. As long as there is love and memory, there is no true loss.”
Cassandra Clare, City of Heavenly Fire
“Heroes aren't always the ones who win," she said. "They're the ones who lose, sometimes. But they keep fighting, they keep coming back. They don't give up. That's what makes them heroes.”
Cassandra Clare, City of Heavenly Fire
“Your boyfriend's crazy,” he said to Clary.
“Yeah, but he’s hot,” said Clary. “So there’s that.”

Happy Reading -J

  2. I haven't read the rest of this series, but I did read The Infernal Devices and loved it! For some reason TMI didn't go over well with me as TID did. 🤷 Are you planning on reading The Dark Artifices?

    1. Oh Sophia I'm terrible about reading the last book in series. I've read the first two books in The Infernal Devices, hopefully I'll get to the last one soon. I want to finish that series before I move onto The Dark Artifices (which I have the first two books).
