Stacking the Shelves #42

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews and co-hosted by Reading Reality. It’s all about sharing the latest books I have added to my shelves; may it be physical or virtual. I can include books I buy in a store or online, books I borrow from friends or the library, audiobooks, gifts and of course eBooks.

I’m having withdrawals and it is only the first week of my self-imposed book buying ban. This is the first week that I haven’t purchased any physical books or Kindle e-books in years. . Okay, now that I think about it, it was probably early January that I went a week without buying books.

I’ve been avoiding the book section at Walmart and Target. When I’m online, I make sure not to visit Book Outlet and only visit Amazon to add books to my Wish List (upcoming releases) … for July when I plan to buy again. I’m keeping that list more manageable because I refuse to buy another book shelf and I may switch back to purchasing solely Kindle reads.

The books below are from a Book Outlet order that I placed in March. I have another order coming soon from Amazon that I placed on 31 March, which I can share next week. I plan on reading from my own shelves and utilizing the library for the next three months. Wish me luck! All book title links will direct you to Goodreads.

Instinct (Chronicles of Nick #6) by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Invision (Chronicles of Nick #7) by Sherrilyn Kenyon

The audiobooks I borrowed from the library this week:

A Study in Scarlet Women (Lady Sherlock #1) by Sherry Thomas

Have you read any of the books I have listed? Have a wonderful day and happy reading -J

  1. It is hard not to add new book to your shelves. I have been allowing myself just a few lately so that I can read some of what I have. It looks like you have some great books headed your way and I hope you enjoy them!

  4. Good luck! The Patricia Briggs books look good and I need to catch up on that series. Book bans are hard though, so don't feel too bad. I don't do very well at them lol.

  7. I love Written in Red as well as the rest of the series and also really enjoyed A Study in Scarlet Women. I think you'll enjoy both of them. I also love the Mercy books although I admit I've fallen behind on the series. Good luck with you buying ban - you can do it!

  9. I really need to read the Mercy Thomson series. I've read the Alpha and Omega books and really enjoyed them but I remember trying Mercy YEARS ago (when the first released) and couldn't get into them back then... Time to try again perhaps! :)
    Have a good week!

  10. I am trying to do the same - NOT buying anymore for the time being. There are so many great books I have just sitting on my shelves, and the floor in front of the shelves, and the end table in front of the shelves, plus the 700 on my Kindle. Yes, 700. That's low, compared to what it has been. We can encourage each other to keep focusing on the books we already have - Lord knows I need all the help I can get! I hope you enjoy what you've recently received and that you also find some great ones at the library. Happy Reading!

  11. Me too. The library is such a great place although it just requires a bit of a wait for the new releases. Happy paranormal reading.
