Single mother of two -
Biker best friend –
Ex that’s still a D-Bag –

New Years is the time for new beginnings. I thought I’d gotten that when I visited Texas over Thanksgiving. Then again, very little has changed. I’m still a librarian living in the same house. My daughters are growing up fast. Sure, I’ve acquired a new best friend, who’s convinced me it’s time to give dating fair shot. Which isn’t exactly easy when I’m pregnant with an As*hole’s baby. Does that complicate matters? Sorta. But there’s nothing left for me to do except move on. The jagged edges of my shattered heart have been polished, questions answered, and blank holes from my past plugged. Now I’m ready to take the plunge into uncharted waters to build a happier life… until a bomb comes along and tests my strength like never before. Nobody fu*ks with my family and gets away with it. Not even you.

Warning: Proceed with caution. Contains adult sexual content, the excessive use of the F bomb, violence, and whatever else that makes it unsuitable for anyone under the age of 18.

*Not a stand-alone, 2nd book in a Trilogy. *

My thoughts…

If you haven’t read the first book, Hopelessly Shattered, you will want to avoid this review all together because it will contain spoilers from the first book.

If you remember Katrina goes to Texas to meet with Bear, she walks into the Sacred Sinners clubhouse only to come face to face with not one but two people from her past who lied to her. One is Brent, her daughters father. Brent was just an alias he used with Kat. His real name is Ryker and he was sent to watch over Kat when her father died. He wasn’t supposed to get involved with her, he did, he left her by note, choosing the club over Kat. Ryker is married to Vanessa and she is pregnant with his child. The second is her father, not only alive but, he is now in a loving relationship with Bear, Sacred Sinners MC Chapter President, Ryker and Kade’s father.

Hopeful Whispers starts off with Kat back home, celebrating New Years with her two daughters, Roxie and Scarlett and having nightly chats with her new best friend Kade, (Ryker’s brother). During one of those conversations Kade and Kat discuss her dating once again, at first, she is reluctant because she is hugely pregnant. She takes the plunge and calls a co-worker who has been interested in her for a while. When the time comes to go on a date, she never expected to be kidnapped.

While Kat is being tortured and abused by her captors, she can hear Vanessa is the next room screaming and spilling her guts about the club secrets regarding Kats’ father. Kat is still refusing to give up any information and the torture and abuse continues. A nearby Sacred Sinners MC chapter, Ryker and his brothers arrive and plan a rescue. Ryker is beside himself, all he thinks about is getting Kat out and to safety.

After being rescued Kat is mad as hell to find out that she must move to Texas for her and her daughter’s safety. She doesn’t want to leave, but Ryker takes matters into his own hands and has already moved his daughters to Texas. If being kidnapped and abused wasn’t enough, she must be tortured once again, sharing a car ride to Texas along with Ryker and Vanessa, good thing she has her bff Kade there along with her. The Sacred Sinners MC chapter that was involved with the rescue also sent along Rosie to provide her and her daughters protection.

Once in Texas, it is decided that Kat, Scarlet and Roxie will live in the gorgeous cabin that Ryker built many years ago in hope of having his family together once again. The cabin is going to have undergo some major remodeling after the gun fight!

In Hopeful Whispers we get Kat’s point of view, along with Ryker’s, Kade and Rosie at the end. It was nice to be inside Ryker’s head and get his prospective on things, yes, he has made some major mistakes but, you can see that his heart is in the right place. I’m so invested in these characters, some I love and some just make me so angry. Kat has a hard time accepting help, but when it comes to keeping your family safe she will gladly accept. Kat is funny, her internal dialogue kept me laughing thought out the book. Rosie is another wonderful character, she reminds me a bit of Lisbeth Salander, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, a little closed off but in need of a friend. Kade, Kade Kade, he doesn’t know it yet, but his heart is going to belong to Rosie.

I can’t wait for the conclusion, Hopelessly Devoted (expected publication 2018), I really want Kat and Ryker to have a Happily Ever After.

Happy Reading -J

**Spoilers**

Ryker discover that Vanessa is betraying the club, she is sharing secrets and their whereabouts to outsiders and is getting paid to do so. Ryker and Kat are at the cabin, when he receives a call from Vanessa that she is in labor, Ryker leaves Kat to take Vanessa to the hospital. Vanessa calls a rival club/gang to let them know the location of the cabin. They arrive and shoot up the cabin, Kade and Rosie get Kat, Scarlett and Roxie to safety inside the safe room. Kade and Rosie leave them to go fight.

After Kade and Rosie kill the bad guys, they can’t reach Ryker. They leave the cabin to meet him at the hospital, along the way they come upon a major car accident with Ryker and Vanessa, but it was no accident, it was deliberate. Ryker is unconscious and bleeding severely, he has three bullet holes in his bicep, along with holes in his thighs and shoulder. Vanessa is basically brain dead; half her cranium is missing, and she has a bullet hole in her shoulder. Her pulse is barley there. Whoever did this, left them for dead.

As they wait for the ambulance to arrive, Rosie makes the decision to save the baby by preforming a C-section. A baby boy is delivered. The story ends.
