The Garretts are everything the Reeds are not. Loud, numerous, messy, affectionate. And every day from her balcony perch, seventeen-year-old Samantha Reed wishes she was one of them . . . until one summer evening, Jase Garrett climbs her terrace and changes everything. As the two fall fiercely in love, Jase's family makes Samantha one of their own. Then in an instant, the bottom drops out of her world and she is suddenly faced with an impossible decision. Which perfect family will save her? Or is it time she saved herself?

My thoughts…

Samantha is the daughter of the Connecticut’s Senator and has lived next door to the large Garrett family for many years. Samantha takes nothing for granted, despite having money from her trust fund mother, Samantha works several jobs, studies hard and always follows the rules her mother has, unlike her rebellious older sister.

Samantha spends her nights on balcony her roof watching the loud, chaotic, loving and affectionate family next door. She never judges them like her mother does, she just wishes that she could have what the Garrett's have. Then one night Jase climbs her trellis and joins her and everything changes for her.

“The Garretts were my bedtime story, long before I ever thought I’d be part of the story myself.”
― Huntley Fitzpatrick, My Life Next Door

Jase and Samantha's relationship builds easily that leads slowly to young love. But Samantha knows her mother would not be happy that she has fallen in love with Jase. Samantha's mother is completely unaware of her daughter's life next door because she is too focused on her own political campaign and her newly much younger boyfriend. Despite how different Jase and Samantha families are, they form such an incredible bond and it is a pleasure to see their love for each other grow.

“I can't help but notice that...well, you're in my our house, with my family, in my world. But am I really in yours?....” ― Huntley Fitzpatrick, My Life Next Door

“It is as if everything else in the world stops as we lie here in the summer night.” ― Huntley Fitzpatrick, My Life Next Door

Samantha is faced with doing the right thing when she realizes that her mother has affected the Garrett family with her actions. They find themselves facing a very real crisis and could ultimately tear them apart.

My Life Next Door is an extremely sweet and beautiful romance, it went straight to my heart. I am very much looking forward to reading more books by Huntley Fitzpatrick.

Happy Reading -J
