Leader of the vampire clan MoonBound, Hunter will do what he must to save his people from extinction-or worse, a torturous eternity as vampire slaves and subjects of human experimentation. To keep his enemies at bay, he has agreed to mate a rival clan leader's daughter in return for peace between the clans and an ally in the looming war with the humans. But survival comes at a price. First, Hunter must break an ancient curse by successfully negotiating three deadly tests. Then he must resist the searing passions of the gorgeous vampire warrior he despises but is bound to mate with. Will Hunter stay true to his word? Or will he risk everything for the woman he really loves: the vampire seductress's identical twin sister?

My thoughts…

Chained by Night is the second book in the MoonBound Clan Vampire series, I enjoyed this book even more so than the first book, Bound by Night (my review). Although I didn’t particularly care much for Larissa Ione’s demon series, I have really enjoyed reading about this clan of vampires.

In the last book, Bound by Night, ends with Hunter, leader of the vampire clan and one of the few first pure second-generation vampires, agreeing to mate the first-born daughter of the rival Shadow Spawn’s clan. He will sacrifice his happiness for his clan’s survival, even marrying the evil twin Rasha, someone he despises, and a major *itch. Rasha is strong warrior in her clan and father’s favorite of the twins.

Accompanying Rasha to the nuptials is her twin sister, Aylin. Aylin is born with a deformed leg and has been treated shamefully and horrible within her clan. Aylin is perceived as weak and not worthy of feeding the male vampires, because of this, she had to learn other skills to survive. Her father uses Aylin as a decoy for Rasha, he would sacrifice the deformed twin to save Rasha’s life.

When Hunter meets Ailyn, he instantly feels drawn. Due to unforeseen circumstances, Aylin ends up on a quest with Hunter to save his first-born child that he would have Rasha. While spending time with the MoonBound clan, Ailyn gets to experience what she has been missing in her clan, respect. I just love Aylin and how she stands up for herself, she is strong, intelligent and loyal. Hunter also discovers that she is a great warrior herself. It was wonderful seeing Ailyn realize just how strong she really is despite her disability.

“Aylin had gotten under his skin, and for all his experience fighting enemies, he had no defense against a female whose strength humbled him, whose voice soothed him, and whose touch drove him wild.”
― Larissa Ione, Chained by Night

Hunter is one powerful alpha male, he has honor, he cares for his clan, treats everyone with respect, and protects all, unlike the other clan leaders. Hunter must now find a way to be with the woman he really loves without betraying his clan. I loved seeing Hunter and Ailyn’s attraction grow from an easy friendship to a passionate love, something neither of them expected.

I’m really enjoying this series, and I can’t wait until the next book comes out. Hopefully it will be about Myne, he’s very mysterious.

Happy Reading -J
