Fifty Shades Trilogy by E.L. James

After reading the Fifty Shades Trilogy I sort of turned into a romance/smut junkie... I embarrassed to admit that I couldn't get enough of the hot and steamy. I stumbled upon a few recommendations that Amazon thought I would like and I was pleasantly surprised that I did enjoy a couple.

Even though my blog posts of lately have been absent of stamping related projects I do appreciate those of you that have stayed with me and still stop by for the occasional visit. ~ Jovi

Shocked yet thrilled by Grey's singular erotic tastes, Ana hesitates. For all the trappings of success – his multinational businesses, his vast wealth, his loving adoptive family – Grey is man tormented by demons and consumed by the need to control. When the couple embarks on a passionate, physical and daring affair, Ana learns more about her own dark desires, as well as the Christian Grey hidden away from public scrutiny.

My thoughts: Oh my gosh, where do I begin.

I heard and read so much about the Fifty Shades Trilogy from TV talk shows and magazines that I had to looked it up, read the product description and decided that it didn't seem like my kind of book. Later my two nieces and several friends mentioned it to me again and I decided to read the first one to see what all the hoopla was about, I downloaded it and kept an open mind.

I was a bit intimidated about these books in the beginning because of the intense sex scenes and subject matter (BDSM), I felt so out of my comfort zone. Once I started reading I couldn't put my Kindle down, it kept my interest from page to page and I quickly downloaded book two and three.  I enjoyed these books, all three, each one more than the last, so much so that I read the trilogy twice.

I've read many different reviews about these books and it seems that you would either love it or hate it because of the way it's written or the fact that the author originally published it as a Fan Fiction story. I have to agree with the people who said it was not well written, if you can get pass the writing and go with the story line itself you would find a very sweet love story about two people with a lot to learn, one being more messed up emotionally than the other.. at least that's what I found.

  1. I was one of the ones who couldn't get past the writing in Fifty Shades so I never made it beyond the Kindle Sample. You definite piqued my interest for the Marriage Bargain, I'm going to check it out. Love the reviews!!! I must recommend On the Island to you, but the name of the author is escaping me right now. It's on the Kindle top sellers' list. Hope you give it a look.

    1. Thanks Leeann for the book suggestion. I just read the description for it and it will definitely be next on my list to read. You'll have to let me know what you thought about the Marriage Bargain...if you read it. Thanks for the comment.

  2. And I'm one of the very few who hasn't gone further than reading the blurb. Regardless of the story or writing, I just love how the trilogy has hijacked the bestseller lists all over the world, even outselling JK Rowlings (if I'm to be believe what I read). What a trip for the author.

    1. Vicki I was really surprised to hear that same news last week on our morning news channel (Fifty out selling HP)... I suppose sex really does sell! What a ride for E.L James!

  3. I'm reading the 2nd in the Grey series. My boyfriend even has his own copy and we try to keep at the same pace. Really enjoying the books.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment, I love reading them.
Have a wonderful day - Jovita
