Ladies Run to Fairplay

This past Saturday I rode along with a group of MSR ladies to the 24th Annual Ladies Run of Colorado, which was held in Fairplay. Even though we didn’t participate in the actual run, we did take enjoy a wonderful lunch and had time to check out what the vendors had.

Our original play was to take Hwy 24 to CO-9 (the quickest route), I suggested we take the more scenic route (Hwy 24 to CO-67 to US285)… we should have taken the quickest route! Huge mistake on my part especially since we had a few new riders and let’s just say it took us way longer than it should have to get to Fairplay. We ended up stopping just North of Deckers on Co Rd 126 to separate into two groups. I lead the group from Woodland Park until we decided to separate and it was a great effort on my part to go 10-20 mph less than the speed limit. I know I should have be more patience because I was a new rider once and at times I still consider myself a new rider, but I wasn’t out group riding after only two weeks of learning to ride. Lesson learned!

Before leaving Fairplay we had to put on our rain gear (ugh), we missed the heavy rain but had a few sprinkles along the way home. Once we made it back to Colorado Springs we stopped in over South Side Johnny’s for dinner. All in all it was a great day to be out and a learned a few things along the way. More photos can be seen in my Flickr Collection, Mountain Shadow Riders 2010. Thanks for visiting ~ Jovi
