Mouse A Round

Here are a couple of House Mouse cards that I made for the Mouse Around Swap (MAR). The first card is using the image She Loves Me and since it’s a fairly large image it I didn’t have to add layers and embellishments to fill up the area. I added stickles to the centers of the flowers and used Pebbles Chalk to fill in the sky.

The second card is using the image Fruity Fun, February’s Design of the Month. I used CTMH Chocolate cardstock with the D’Vine Swirl Cuttlebug Folder. Close to My Heart cardstock has a white core, I was then able to use a sanding block across the embossed swirls to show the white of the cardstock.

If you try to leave a comment you’ll notice that I turned the Word Verification option back on. Over the last week or two I’ve been getting a lot of unwanted spam comments and hopefully this will help prevent that. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Ouch!

I made this card for a fellow Shackie moderator and friend who recently had double knee replacement surgery. Barb has already started physical therapy and soon she’ll be hitting the stamp stores! I hope she enjoys the card.

The image is Hurtin’ Burton from Inky Antics, Inky Antics has some of the cutest stamps. I added Glossy Accents to Burton’s nose and Diamond Stickles to his collar. The designer paper is from CTMH’s Let’s Get Together pack and Burton is colored with Prismacolor Pencils blended with Gamsol. Thanks for visiting – Jovi

Huggin Bunny

As soon I as saw this stamp Huggin’ Bunny from Inky Antics, I knew I had to have it… it’s just so cute. It’s quickly turning into one of my favorites and chances are you’ll see more cards using this image.

For this card I used designer paper from CTMH’s Paper Garden pack. I colored the image with Prismacolor Pencils and blended with Gamsol. I then added some White Fun Flock to the tail and a bit of Diamond Stickles on the carrot. I also added pale yellow chalk (Pebbles) around the edge of the image… it’s kind of hard to see in the photo. Thanks for visiting and have a wonderful day -Jovi

Bike Show

Saturday we went to the Hot Rod & Bike Show here in Colorado Springs. I was on a mission to find me some sunglasses for riding that have changeable lenses… no luck. I’ve been using the cheepo sport glasses from Target and I’ve already gone through three pairs. I wasn’t able to find any that fit me, each time I tried on a pair I had a huge gap near my eyebrows and they sat low on my nose. One of the vendors suggested that I try Asian fit glasses from Oakley and I’ve also heard a lot of ladies in MSR rave about Wiley X glasses. This week I’ll try to hit some of the local dealers to try on some Wiley X glasses.

After the bike show Bryan and I had a chance to get out for a short ride. We went down Judge Orr to Peyton Hwy, then onto Hwy 24 and then made our way home. The clouds started to roll in which made it a lot cooler. By time we made it home my fingers and backside were pretty cold. Those clouds that came in brought snow along with them that evening and on Sunday.

Below are some of the pictures I took at the bike show (click on image for larger view), thanks for visiting - Jovi

Hoppy Valentines

Last week I was stamping Happy Hopper images for my friend Lori and I came across this Happy Hopper stamp (Hoppy Valentines) that I totally forgot I purchased (a regular occurrence here). I need to find a way to organize all my wooden stamps that aren’t sets. Currently I have them grouped by company in acrylic picture frames: House Mouse, Happy Hoppers, Inky Antics, Great Impressions, Penny Black and Other. I would like to keep them by company… maybe find a way to organize them by theme?! How do you organized your loose wooden stamps and if you organize by themes, what themes do you use?

Anyway, this is the card I sent to my friend along with the images, Chocolate Heart 02. I wanted my image to have a scalloped border and I didn’t have a rectangle punch… only a square. I punched out two squares and pieced them together to fit my image and the seam line is hardly noticeable. For the Hoppy Valentines card I added Stickles to give it some sparkle. I added Frosted Lace to the bunny tail and Diamond to the hearts along the candy box… I LOVE sparkle. Have a wonderful Valentine’s Day and thanks for reading. - Jovi

A Sunday Ride

WARNING: The photo below contains offensive language!

Sunday I had a chance to get out and ride my motorcycle along with Bryan and my brother in law. We made a quick trip into the Springs HD store. Bryan had to pick up some parts that were missing from one of his orders. I was hoping to get out and ride again with Bryan this afternoon. It was in the mid 50’s today. Didn’t happen, I had so many other things to get done that I couldn’t get away. Maybe I can ride Saturday, it should be back into the 50’s then.

While we were at the HD store Sunday, my brother in law found a black Heritage Classic that he could see himself riding. After showing it to my sister they decided that he should purchase it sometime in the near future, which will leave his Kawasaki Vulcan for my sister to ride. She’ll have it lowered and have the controls moved… oh and learn how to ride it! She’s planning on learning in the school parking lot once the weather warms up and then take her Motorcycle Safety Course through ABATE. How exciting is that?!

I’ll make sure to post a picture of Bryan’s new ride when I can get a nice picture of it out of the garage. I tried to take some Saturday, but the sun wasn't cooperating with me!

Until then, I’ll leave you with this funny ad that my sister happened to email me today. It’s been around for at least a year or so. I saw it awhile back on a motorcycle blog that I frequent. Enjoy… and sorry for the bad language in the ad - Jovi

Gruffies...

Gruffies, the latest and greatest critters! Stampabilities (the makers of House Mouse and Happy Hoppers) just released a new line of bear stamps called Gruffies and Dick from HM Stamps is taking preorders. I already ordered eight to get me started! You can check them out here at HM Stamps, they are so cute!

Monica

I went ahead a purchased Adobe Photoshop Elements 6. I just want to say thank you for all the helpful comments and emails that I received. I’ve been playing around with Photoshop to edit some of my photos. I’ve found that my experience using Coral Paint Shop Pro X has been extremely helpful, since most of the tools are very comparable.

I haven’t jumped into any digital scrapbooking… yet! I did download a few digi scrap kits that I would like to play with in the future. But before I do any of that I HAVE to finish Austin’s baby scrapbook. A couple years ago I had this bright idea to re-do his book and Riley’s book. Well, I finished Riley’s and only made it half way into Austin’s book. My goal is to complete his book before I start any new projects/hobbies. I have everything out and ready to start working on it tomorrow ~ wish me luck!

Okay onto stamping: here is another card that I made using the same designer paper as the previous card, from daisyd’s. I’m totally addicted these little Gemstones from Hero Arts, for this card I used them on every scallop. A few weeks ago I picked up some Frosted Lace Stickles and I was able to use it for the first time around the heart that Monica is holding (Monica Romances).

Monica? No… I didn’t name her, the House Mouse artist/creator Ellen Jareckie has named each mouse and they each have a distinctive feature… I’ll share more about that in a different post. So be on the lookout and thanks for reading - Jovi

Stamps: Monica Romances (House Mouse) ~ Paper: Petalsoft (Bazzill), Blossom (Bazzill), White, Maybe Baby Collection (daisyd’s) ~ Ink: Noir Palette ~ Other: Gemstones (Hero Arts), White Sheer Creations Ribbon, Frosted Lace Stickles, Prismacolor Pencils blended with Gamsol

Tails of True Love

Tails of True Love, Bryan bought me this stamp a couple years ago. When I first started my collection (addiction) of House Mouse I had a huge wish list, back then I thought I had to have every one! Every holiday I would give Bryan my updated list and then Bryan, Riley and Austin would each pick a few stamps from my list… that’s how my collection of House Mouse grew so fast.

Stamps: Tails of True Love (House Mouse) ~ Paper: White, Blossom (Bazzill), Maraschino (Bazzill), Maybe Baby Collection (daisyd’s) ~ Ink: Noir Palette ~ Other: Sakura Stardust Gelly Pen, Pebbles Chalk, White, Sheer Creations White Ribbon, Prismacolor Pencils blended with Gamsol

I have bags!

and not the kind under my eyes... LOL! I’m sure I’ve mentioned (well, I was actually complaining) that I really need to find some saddlebags in order for me to carry around all my necessities while riding. I was holding out until I found the perfect girly bags… no luck. A huge problem that I had was finding bags that fit and were big enough to store my camera… I was adamant that I didn’t want to relocate my turn signals, which didn’t leave me with very many options. Without moving my signals the shocks took up plenty of the storage space… ugh!

Then I decided that I was going to use Tbags! Tbags come in various sizes and they just slip over your backrest. The problem… I didn’t want to change the look of my bike by adding a backrest. Didn’t I tell you how picky I’ am!

I couldn’t hold out any longer and I finally gave in and bought both! Some Harley bags and everything need for Tbags. I decided to do the signal relocation which gave me more storage in the bags. I also went with a clean sleek bag, instead of girly fringe and conchos. For the sissybar and rack I went with the detachable option with a lock (which we already assembled -photo). It will be easily removable for the days that I don’t want or need it on my bike. I was able to get all my shopping done at my local Harley Davidson store. My part list was huge, kind of like the sales receipt!

I’m learning that customizing my motorcycle is time consuming and very expensive! I’m happy that I waited and didn’t jump into something I wasn’t going to be happy with down the road!
