Wrapped & Ready

Years ago I bought a huge jar of Twinklets Diamond Dust from the craft store. It’s the same stuff that is used to make fake fruit look sugary and sparkly. I love using it on my winter cards for glistening snow and I used it for this card.

The House Mouse image is Wrapped & Ready, one of my favorite Christmas stamps. After I colored the image I used Pebble Chalk to make the sky background. I then stamped little snowflakes (Snowflakes TAC) with Close to My Hearts White Daisy Ink… it’s very similar to Stampin Up’s Craft White, it seems to take a bit longer to dry but it’s a vibrant white. Since I’m extremely impatience and couldn’t wait for the ink to dry, I dumped sparkly embossing powder over it. I then added Glossy Accents to the bows, if you look closely you can probably see my fingerprints on the bows from me touching it to see if it was dried… did I was mention I was impatient?!

New Helmet and a Ride

For the last couple of months I been searching for a new helmet. I been using a boring gray full faced one since I started riding on the back of Bryan’s bike. When I originally picked out the gray it was for the occasional ride with Bryan. At that time I didn’t need or want a stylish helmet and frankly I didn’t want to spend the money for a helmet that I wasn’t going to wear that often… I just wanted my head protected (just in case). Little did I know that a year later I would be riding my own motorcycle and now I want that trendy helmet!

Here it is, my search is over! I bought a Shoei TZ-R Vogue TC-5. I was fortunate to stop in at Rocky Mountain Cycles on the day they were having a sale on helmets. I been carry around a coupon for RMC that I received when I completed my Motorcycle Safety Course through ABATE and the sales lady was kind enough to take my coupon on a sale item. How exciting is that?! I was able to get a pretty good deal on this pricey helmet. It’s also available in pink, which was my first choice until I saw the black/silver helmet… isn’t it pretty?

I noticed that it’s much lighter than my previous helmet. It also has removable cheek pads and chinstraps. I can’t wait to ride with it on the Interstate to see if I notice a difference in wind noise. Now I’m on the lookout for a trendy half helmet (DOT approved).

I had a chance to ride today, it was a balmy 50 degrees. Even though I only rode for about 45 minutes, it was great. My toes and backside did get a little chilly as I was going 55 mph down Hwy 24. I had to be extra careful while riding today. We still have ice at the end of our driveway and around the neighborhood. The roads here in Colorado Springs are also covered with sand, especially around the corners.

I read that I should fill the tank and add a stabilizer if I’m going to store my motorcycle for extended period during the winter… what is an extended period?! Since I plan on riding throughout the winter on nice days, I just filled up my tank. I’ll have to give more thought into what is considered an extended period for storage before I add stabilizer or disconnect the battery for charging. Thanks for reading ~ Jovi

Little Snowy a chubby snowman.

I made this card for The Stamp Shack Sketch Challenge #3 (to access the Creative Corner you must have a Shack Plus membership). When it was time to assemble the card I discovered that my lower strip (a sentiment) didn’t fit below the scallop, I left it off the card. I threaded silver floss (yes, I also cross stitch) though the brad button holes. I’ll never do that again… it took too long and I had to take a break after threading, I was seeing double and my fingers felt cramped… I’m big baby!

I have a thing for snowmen, especially the playful chubby kind. When I came across this stamp (The Whole Gang from Inky Antics) I had to giggle that a couple of the snowmen are squished and some have sticks for hair. They remind me of the snowmen that Riley and Austin make.

Jake once more...

Riley and I were looking though some pictures of Jake as a puppy and I just had to share this one. He loved to lay under the kitchen chairs, now that he’s 100+ lbs he no longer fits under the chairs but whenever he has a chance to lay under the table he’s there.

Did you happen to notice that his nose is no longer black, how could that be?

Rapture of the Road...

I want to pass along the news that I no longer have a separate motorcycle blog (Rapture of the Road). All my adventures of learning to ride and rides will be maintained here at Inky Impressions.

It was really time consuming to continue with two blogs, especially since I wasn’t very familiar with WordPress. My decisions to remove my MC blog was a “in the moment” decision… I was really frustrated last night trying to add to it, I just had enough and wanted to be done with it. Even though WordPress had some cool features, I was having a hard time trying to customize it like I wanted. I find that Blogger is much more user friendly, at least for me.

Also, I just want to apologize to my readers who subscribe to Inky Impressions through email. I made some label changes last night and added posts. With those changes it sent out an email update of every label post that changed and I didn’t expect that to happen.

Thanks for reading and again I’m sorry about the huge email update. Jovi

Our fur baby is the big 2!

Look at the big two year old! Jake, our spoiled dog had a wonderful birthday. I took him to have his nails done (trimmed). Then we walked around Petco and he picked out his own birthday toy. Jake also enjoyed a little snow play with Riley and Austin. Okay on to stamping…

I challenged myself to make a card without using patterned paper. This is what I came up with… and it was tough. I had to struggle to find something to fill in the background. I punched holes in the Stonewash (Bazzill) cardstock and then I layer that on top of white cardstock, I was trying to give it a snowing look. I then filled each hole with Diamond Stickles and I still wasn’t very happy with it, it still needed more. I then added small snowflakes (TAC Snowflakes set) in-between the falling snow. Yippee I was happy with the background!

For the second card, I gave up on my challenged and pulled out the patterned paper (Basic Grey Figgy Pudding Forest / Glee) and I was pleasantly surprised to see that Close to My Heart’s (CTMH) Twilight and Garden Green matched it perfectly.

We finally received snow here in Colorado Springs and it put me in the mood to make some holiday/winter cards.

For both cards the image is Reindeer Kitty from Inky Antics. The first kitty card is colored gray and I used patterned paper from CTMH Everlasting Paper Pack. I would have never thought to use the rose patterned paper for this card or for the previous Christmas Mice card until I saw it used in the CTMH catalog for holiday cards.

The second kitty is colored brown and I used Basic Grey Fruitcake Nutcracker / Vintage Ornaments patterned paper. Basic Grey is becoming one of my favorite paper companies. I have a problem… I can’t leave Archiver’s without having a stack of Basic Grey and matching Bazzill cardstock... ugh!

Did you happen to notice my new snowflake watermark? Dina made it for me. If you’re in need of any watermarks please visit Mama Dini’s Digi-Sig Diner. Dina is wonderful to work with and she has quick service.

Hopefully I’ll have some House Mouse cards to share later this week. Thanks for reading ~ Jovi
