Penny Black 10

This week’s Penny Black Saturday Challenge is… Challenge 10 ~ Ribbon.

I’m so mad at myself… I went thought an entire CTMH Ribbon Round (6 spools, 4 feet on each) for this challenge and only a little bit of the ribbon ended up on my card!

How did I go through that much ribbon? My plan was to create a Ribbon Blossom or Ribbon Pom Pom like the blossoms that Pam Bassett creates for her cards… you can see her gorgeous ribbon blossoms here on her blog Indigo Studio. After cutting, stacking and tugging this way and that way… it didn’t turn out so great. I also thought about weaving ribbon along the spine… I didn’t have any good lengths left only scraps which I used to make ribbon tags. Even thought I used up an entire Ribbon Round and didn’t get the ribbon blossom I wanted, I’m pretty happy with it.

I’m sure the challenge participates will have an easier time with this challenge than I did (wink)! Thanks for stopping by ~ Jovi

  12. Ha ~~ I've tried Pam's blossom MANY times & they never turn out for me. Keep an eye out for a tutorial which I think they're going to post on SCS (there's a stalking thread going on under "techniques"). This is an adorable card at any rate, & I think the ribbon looks wonderful! Great colors!!

  16. Don't hate me, but I laughed at this too. I just went through a large portion of my Basic Grey Archaic paper that I "loved so much" when I bought it. I tried doing a bunch of patterns last night and followed sketches to make cards... yep, they ended up being scraps in my recycling bin. So I feel ya.
