Inspiration & Post Surgery Appointment

I try weekly to peek into some of my favorite fellow stampers galleries over at Splitcoast and The Shack. One day while I was going through Patty’s (imastamper SCS) gallery to see her latest and greatest Penny Black & House Mouse cards, I came across this Gruffies card (This Bear Likes Tea) that she made using SU’s River Rock along with Black and White cardstock. I really liked her simple colors and the layout. I knew that Close to My Heart had a Reflections Kit (Silhouette) that contained similar colors: Bamboo, Black and White. That same day I placed an order with CTMH to purchase Silhouette just so I can make a card like Patty’s!

Here is my version of Patty’s card. I tried to make the same card, I made a few turns here and there! I didn’t use the same Gruffies image as Patty, I used the Gruffies image Finding Friendship. I added a chipboard corner covered with designer paper from the Silhouette pack along with Prima Flowers and a Black Button Brad. Thanks to Patty for the inspiration!

Yesterday I had my appointment with my surgeon and everything looks great. I can’t return to the gym or lift anything over 10 pounds for another two weeks… ugh! That means I better be mindful of what I’m eating so I don’t pack the weight back on. I can leisurely walk Jake and ride my motorcycle… whoo hooo! As soon as I made it home I geared up and went for a ride, it was beautiful! I did learn that I’m allergic to the “surgical super glue” that was used along with my sutures. Having that glue on me was horrible, I had rash and hives until it wore off (which I helped along). I had to take daily doses of Benadryl just to keep from scratching. I also learned that I popped one of my sutures in one of my incisions… even though it was healing great, that incision will probably have a larger scar than the others… darn… there goes my swimsuit modeling (LOL). I’m feeling great!

Thanks for reading ~ Jovi

  1. I'm happy that you healed well and are able to RIDE. I know what you mean about allergies to the glue. I am allergic to all surgical tapes and adhesives, and do the same thing you did. Hopefully you won't need any more surgeries!
