Beary Full of Truffles

It took awhile to make this card! I couldn’t decide what color I wanted my bear, on the stamp image the bear is Grey. Once I decide he’ll be Brown... I wasn’t sure on what shade of Brown… Dark Brown, Chocolate, Burnt Ochre, Dark Umber, Sandbar Brown, Sienna Brown… So many to pick from, finally I went with Light Umber and Beige. On my next bear I’m going to go with a lighter shade of Grey for his claws and pads. Then, after rethinking my paper choice twice I finally finished my first Gruffies card.

The Gruffies image is Beary Full of Truffles. I used sandpaper to sand off some of the Chocolate color on the base cardstock, which has a white core and is from Close to My Heart (CTMH). The patterned paper is from Life Delights paper pack, also from CTMH. I not all that thrilled with the white eyelets I used. They’re from Stampin Up and whenever I use them with my Crop a Dile the painted color seems to chip off. I have a bunch of SU eyelets and I would hate to get rid of them. What can I do to keep the paint from chipping off? Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks for reading – Jovi

  1. I luv the bear. Your card is just sweet! I played with the same image yesterday. I chose grey, but have to go back and add another layer of color. He is rather pale. Perhaps I will finish him today.
You asked about Stampin'Up eyelets. I use a VERY gentle hand with these. As a matter of fact I use a 1/8" hand held punch to set them instead of the crop-o-dile. Stampin'Up eyelets are made of aluminum and are very soft; easy to set without much pressure.I hope this helps.

As for the eyelets, I use a 1/8 inch hole punch with the SU ones. I see that Krisstee also uses that!
