Baby Oil Problems

Lately I’ve been using baby oil to blend Prismacolor Pencils instead of Gamsol. Well, I’m switching back to Gamsol! When I began to blend the browns on the coffee bag the baby oil didn’t seem to want to spread the color very well and I had to push harder with my stump to get the color to move. I thought it may have been the paper that I was using. When I completed the card I experimented using the same image and paper with Gamsol and it worked great, the colors blended like they should. I think the baby oil works fine for small images, but for the larger areas that need coloring it doesn’t spread as easily.

The image is The Need for Caffeine, it’s one of the newest House Mouse coffee stamps. The patterned paper is from the cardstock bundle that I picked up at Wal-Mart last weekend (the button also came in the bundle). I added a bit of shimmer for the steam, I used Sakura’s Stardust Gelly Pen. The steam looks like it has a bit of gold in it… the Stardust must be reflecting off the browns from the coffee bag.

I probably wouldn’t be posting again before Thanksgiving, I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends. Thanks for visiting ~ Jovi

  5. Fabulous card, Jovi. As always, your colouring is amazing. TFS the bit about the baby oil; my family is chipping in together to buy me prismacolours and I have been wondering what I should use to blend. I'll definately use gamsol after reading your post.

  6. oh jovi, this is so amazing. Maybe one day you will show us exactly how you do this. I mean, where you lay down the color at and where you use the blending stump at and how you do it! Have a great Thanksgiving!

  10. I had problems with baby oil working right, too. Your probably right on the money as to why it doesn't work in the larger areas. I like what you did with this, you always do such wonderful work!!!
